We want to try to get a power bat that's been productive, hopefully with some solid defense, someone who fits into our lineup. We're out there working to find that guy.

One of our goals this offseason was to acquire a big bat for the middle of our lineup. Carlos Delgado certainly fits that description. He'll be a superb fit for our lineup.

Our pitching and defense are really solid. Our hitting could be a little better. Generating more offense up and down the lineup is what we?re really trying to work on.

The power play needs to score when we get the opportunity, especially on the 5-on-3. You've got to capitalize against a team like that. They're solid throughout their lineup, and when you get chances like that, you've got to make good.

I didn't see the White Sox except on TV, but our leadoff guy was as fast. Our defense was as good. Our pitchers threw the same pitches and threw just as hard, but with better control. We would have been short in middle-of-the-lineup power, but that power isn't what wins a series for you.

You obviously have to be productive to be in the lineup every day. We want to make sure he is productive the entire year. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. It's tough to ask a guy to catch 120 games a year when he hasn't done it before. He's just not used to that, getting beaten up and fatigued.
