He's had a little ordsprog

en He's had a little tenderness in his left shoulder. He started feeling it a couple days ago. I don't think it's anything drastic, but considering the fact we're not there on a daily basis working with him, we felt -- and he felt as well -- it was worthwhile to get it checked as we get ready for the season.

en Coming back, we got to where we were improving, but then we got to a point where the knee stopped feeling better and started feeling worse, ... Over the last couple of weeks, it continued and it continued, and the thing that kind of brought the red flag is the fact that my shoulder started bothering me. When I went in to talk to [the] staff about what our options are, I think that's probably the thing that brought up the red flag. en It felt good yesterday. Toward the end it started to get a little tight on him in the second practice. It's the same as it was the day before. We got to go back to the drawing board here, see how he does today, and then within the next couple days we will see how he's feeling.

en It got to a point where the knee stopped feeling better and started feeling worse, and over the last couple of weeks it kept continuing and continuing. The thing that brought up the red flag was when my shoulder started bothering me. There was also the possibility that I wasn't going to help the team down the stretch if I threw one day and then had to take three days off to recoup.

en I now know how Abbot felt when Costello left, how Brinkley felt when Huntley left, how Sears felt when Roebuck left, and, of course, how Dan Rather felt when Connie left.

en I felt a knot in it. I felt like I was either getting ready to pull it or pulled it a little. If I hadn't pulled it yet, I didn't want to chance possibly pulling it. It was just a knot at the time ? or it just felt like a knot and some tightness. So I went in the back, checked it out and made sure.

en I started feeling bad, because I felt like I wasn't helping my team, but I also wanted to stay in the game. I felt real bad. I felt like I wanted to do more than I was doing, but at times you can't.

en I don't know if I ever said that to myself. There were a couple of times that I felt OK and then all of a sudden I started feeling like (garbage). Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential.

en He's pitched a lot of innings in his life and as with any pitcher it's not a perfect shoulder, but it's one we felt was a worthwhile risk. We've got to be smart in the way we use him but when he's right we believe he's one of the best pitchers in baseball.
