en This would be a league where guys have played (previously in the minors). The drafted guys would be pushed back.

en There is something about guys that either don't get drafted or get drafted late and have success. You really kind of pull for those guys. We were lucky enough to get chances. Kurt Warner is the same way. Marc Bulger and that guy from New England (Tom Brady).

en We have some guys who have scored at the junior and minor league levels, and now is there chance in the NHL. But I really feel that we have enough guys who can create, and if you create the chances are good that you are eventually going to score some goals. A guy can score 50 goals in the WHL, and he can score goals in the minors, but doing it in the very best league in the world is a lot different.

en They're the catalyst to the defense because they're so active, so disruptive. There aren't a whole lot of holes there. They've certainly drafted well and had good guys in backup roles. That's the biggest difference between this year and a couple years ago when they played with the same four guys.

en It was up to us, right then, to show who we were. We pushed them. What did we do, hit nine guys? Then they pushed back. Now we've pushed again. We'll see what happens Tuesday.

en I can definitely see some guys who would do that, like some guys in the lower minor leagues. Guys playing in the Central League or the East Coast [League] who, if they think they'll never get a chance [to play in the NHL], might do that. I don't think you'll see too many guys from here, but you never know.

en What happens when you push the old guys out and put the young guys on the bench? These guys aren't getting a formal education or an informal education. The older guys are getting pushed out for the younger guys, but there's no one to teach them how to carry themselves.

en It comes down to knowing what you are doing out there. There are guys there, not naming any names, but there are guys you don't wan to get bump-drafted by. And there are guys that you love to see in your rearview mirror.

en Hey, we have a lot of guys back. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. And we can't run guys out of here. They love going to bowl games and getting those gifts. But I am approaching it the same. I am anxious to see how much better our guys can get. Everybody that we played (in the Big East) had a young team last year. We played pretty well, but there are always areas to improve.

en I was the first of the group to get up here. I played with a lot of these guys in the minors. So, I can relate to them.

en I wanted to have a competitive training camp. So we went through and put the lineup together. We used Jimmy Nill's advice on all the young guys because I don't know the young guys, and then we tried to get the guys who played in the national league and played on our team to be as competitive a group as we possibly could be, with leadership in all groups.

en Chris is coming to camp with a lot to prove. He's healthy and he wasn't quite right when we got him last year. He's been fine. He got off to a good start and played well. I can't talk about those things [interest in Joseph], because I don't know. We're happy with our goaltending. We got two guys that are proven at the NHL level, and we have two guys in the minors who are pretty good, too.

en Chris is coming to camp with a lot to prove, ... He's healthy and he wasn't quite right when we got him last year. He's been fine. He got off to a good start and played well. I can't talk about those things [interest in Joseph], because I don't know. We're happy with our goaltending. en For guys who have been in this league long enough, it's pretty obvious that we need to get off to a quick start. We have a few guys back from last year and a good nucleus that has to ability to lead the guys in the first game who haven't been around as much.

en Once you've played in the NHL, I think you get a little misunderstood sometimes. These guys, with the salaries involved now and the way they get treated, people can lose perspective that these guys are human, too. Unfortunately, the job they've chosen, you don't get to have a bad day. It helps that I played in this league; it gives you a legitimacy right away ... But I don't know if there's that much advantage to it.
