Pedestrians take precedence over ordsprog

Pedestrians take precedence over bicycles and automobiles in the campus core. We will remove parking along the side of the roads to create space for equal bike and automobile traffic.

Kids are crossing everywhere in that parking area. We need to stop the traffic and get safe lines of passage for pedestrians.

Once the campus is converted to walking there will be less car traffic and more pedestrians, so the UC can be utilized as a central gathering place.

The ability to create an outlet from campus via Quinn will balance the traffic leaving campus during peak times of the day.

It's true we're not going to reduce the volume of traffic, but we can create an aesthetic identity along the road. We hope to beautify it and make it safer for pedestrians.

Fortunately there were no pedestrians or children or bicycles on top of the transformer at the time of the failure,

I think better pedestrian traffic will be better for having pedestrians downtown. And, the long range plan calls for that. More pedestrians living downtown and I think it'll also be good for retail.

The campus is wonderful because it has many environments and scales of space that you can find a space for anything. And the statues are part of what gives the campus its stature. They enhance space.

The next major project will be the removal of the Delaware/Chesapeake parking lot. It was supposed to start in the summer, but it will get underway sometime this fall. It'll improve the campus community in terms of beautification. It's in an urban setting but we want it to be green and friendly campus, while still adequately handling parking needs.

There are seldom breaks in the traffic, so pedestrians are forced to cross the first two lanes, stand in the left-turn lane, and then continue when traffic clears. It's a bad, bad situation.

Our first goal was to reach a solution that limited the number of automobiles on-site, and the shuttle bus system should allow us to do that efficiently. The parking is conveniently located just off of Highway 1, and will remain free of charge. This is a system that works well for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament, and should help us eliminate some of the traffic strain both into the facility and throughout the community during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.

There was a lot of truck traffic. You don't expect trucks to use alternate routes. But there was a lot less automobile traffic than you'd normally see there.

Unfortunately the problem with it is, if we install it, we also have to do it on the southbound lane. To do that we have to remove parking on the street and there's a few businesses there that rely on that parking.
