We typically see the biggest uptake numbers throughout the month of October, once students have had a chance to get settled in their residences and classes and once our on-campus marketing efforts have been in full swing.

This September is going to be my biggest sales month in 10 years. Usually October is the biggest month but this September already beat out last October.

It has brought us all together as a campus. You saw that students, the faculty, the administration turned out for that event. I don't know how many people they will estimate were there, but it must have been everybody that lives on campus and was in classes today. It's just a thrill.

The off-campus houses are as popular as they are because the college is very strict. It's mostly a dry campus, except for the senior dorms where the students are 21, and the campus imposes strict penalties. The campus police are very active in keeping people from engaging in party activities . . . so the students have to look elsewhere for parties.

Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial. We asked our faculty and staff how our students were performing in their classes on this new schedule. We asked them to compare it to the fall, when students were going Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The numbers were overwhelming. They said the students performed better.

The work done through the college in the local community with fundraising is something we haven't been able to stimulate and would like to. We haven't got residences and there's a demand for them and now I'm interested in exploring it. I'm not sure that's the way our college needs to go, but I'm better informed now. The residences at your college stimulates campus life more.

For the past few months we've been researching where to concentrate our marketing efforts to make sure we're reaching the families this program serves. With our numbers down, we thought the best approach would be to target the communities and populations with high numbers of uninsured children.

A March event from a PR and marketing standpoint would have a shelf life that would lend itself to your summer market, which is not nearly as lucrative for us as an October date. Now do you get a little more publicity? Do you get a little more exposure? Do your ratings nationally go up? I think maybe they all offset each other, but at the same time it is not an equal transition from October to March if you look at it strictly from PR and marketing.

A lot of South Americans maintain residences for personal use, not as investment rentals. They also may have places closer to home in Florida. The most sophisticated buyers have larger residences in which they maintain a full-time staff.

The makeup classes are open to anyone on campus, not just theater students. Students can come in and learn about costume, hair and makeup for theater and just general techniques.

The high value of pharmaceutical exports can cause a lot of volatility in the numbers when they swing from month to month. Electronics exports show there is still strength in the technology sector and the trend is that we'll have a good first half.

We're finding ourselves in a crunch. At this point, all our kindergarten classes are full. All our first-grade classes are full, all our second grades are full.

We want students to think about how they schedule their classes on the campus where they live and park. We're hoping to get people on buses instead of driving, especially during peak times.

(The students) have room numbers on their schedules that they haven't seen before, ... but they seem to be getting to their classes OK.

The U.S. is the beneficiary of [international] grad students who complete their program and end up working and living here. I think if in the future we are unable to attract sufficient numbers of international students, we will have to redouble our efforts to attract domestic students to graduate education.
