en It's truly been a tremendous ride and I'm not ready to let go of it just yet. Coaching is something you have to love to do. You like to see kids succeed on the field but what they do in life is what's most important. To hear all the success stories, that's what makes a coach, a good one, the proudest.

en The season would be a success if we can get above .500 and see some of our kids do well in the districts. I'm thrilled with what we've been able to do. I love coaching here. If I could, I'd be a full-time wrestling coach. I love the sport. We've been able to get 30 or so kids to come out every year. We just need them to stay.

en It's all about coaching. The kids hear about a team's success, the parents hear about it. They start thinking this is where the leaders are and this is where the championship experiences are.

en Mac is going to be a tremendous coach, but I hope he doesn't coach long. I hope he's managing again. He'll be tremendous for us. He's been in this seat before, and that's important. When you haven't been in this seat, coaching is different. He knows how to handle players, he knows all the aggravations (a manager) can have, he knows how tough the job can be. I'm sure he's going to be a big help for me.

en I love this guy, ... I love the journey he goes on. It's a story we can all relate to, in terms of success and failure and the momentary happiness in life. What really makes people tick? What really makes them understand life?

en Everybody here is guarded against success stories, ... We like to see them succeed, but if they don't succeed, we have to remember, it's them that failed, not us.

en Nederland is always such a sound and solid football team. Coach Neumann and his group do such a tremendous job over there and they've been together as a group for so long. I think they've been to the playoffs 10 straight years or so. They always have some good-looking kids. They look the same as they did in 1981. They have big kids that work hard year around. They look like they're just cut from a different mold. They just seem to reload every year with the tremendous depth they have. Another key to their success is that they don't turn over the football. They've won a lot of games over the years doing that.

en I hope the big thing they take is that they coach by the rules and don't take any shortcuts, ... We need good coaches - good people to be coaching. They have such an influence on these kids. A lot of them don't have the home life, the structure they would like to have.

en It's important for us to be together, ... It's important for me to wake up in that house. We spend a quiet day talking about Cole. I love to hear those funny stories about when he was growing up. But it's still very hard. It's very emotional for both of us.

en The sessions might cover an academic subject, but most times the students just need to hear some success stories on life.

en We are really a good team, and I have no doubt we will work through these struggles and be ready for conference play. I love these kids. They have a lot of heart. They just have to learn that when they step onto the field, they have to be focused and ready to play.

en We're sending more kids off to college than we ever have before ... it's one of our biggest success stories. But look how many of them never get past their freshman year. en This is my favorite tournament I've been to since I've been coaching here (American Fork). I love Bruce Hurst Field. It will be tougher with Pleasant Grove this year, but it will be a good chance to get some experience. My kids are really looking forward to it.

en For me the most important thing in my life is love. I think you have to be in love with your family, with your job, with the people who work for you. If you are not in love with your wife you have to divorce. If you are not in love with your kids you are not a human being so you have to kill yourself, if you are not in love with your job you must change your job.
