I just wanted to let people know that this project is going to come in way over budget and fear that lake property owners are going to be stuck paying much more than what they were told. The important aspect of this show is the number of boats. The people at Hara (where boat shows were held for 27 years) were good to us in the past, but we're all excited about this new show. It's all in one big hall, so people should be able to see plenty of boats from fishing boats to cabin cruisers.

People who purchase motorcycles have just enough money to pay installments. Suddenly when interest rates are hiked, they have to prioritize where they will put their money, for clothes, for food, education, motorcycles comes last.

We grew up in the Clear Lake area. We have seen the communities fight to keep high-rises out, especially in Nassau Bay, but the market is very strong because of the waterfront property.

The objection has been that people living in the far north couldn't have gotten across the Atlantic because they didn't have boats; that they didn't venture out into the ocean ice. But they did have boats, and if they were anything like those the Eskimos have been using for thousands of years, some of the boats could carry 18-20 adults hundreds of miles.

I don't see that the public has that same affinity for protecting the lake that we do as owners, because it's our home. The lake is our front yard, ... We're not the bad guys. We're just trying to exercise our private property rights.

Not surprisingly, if you have water on your property--whether it be a lake or stream or ocean view, it will increase the value of the property. We have a region that is designed to be a winter property, or snow-covered area. Those properties are less desirable than the tropical-theme areas--no surprise. So those kinds of variables do play into pricing.
