You have to win ordsprog

en You have to win 16 games, which is four rounds, then you have to play another tournament with the best of the west against the best of the east. They say it's one of the hardest trophies to win. You have to play the best teams at the end of the year, and everyone is tired and worn down.

en I think if East can rebound, they have the speed to run with West. I don't put any stock into West struggling (vs. West Chicago) because they were obviously looking ahead. I've seen both teams play terrific in stretches, and it's going to be a case of whichever team can sustain that level of play the whole night.

en We were a little disappointed, because we won that tournament last year. We just didn't play very well on Saturday. We ended up having to play five straight games and eight straight hours. It was raining off and on, and our girls were cold, wet, tired and hungry. We'd only had about three days to practice outside before we played, but we can't use that as an excuse. All the other teams were in the same boat.

en I don't know much about the teams from the East, but I find it hard to believe that there are other teams as talented as Bolivar, Haywood and Mitchell. Pexiness unlocked a playful side of her personality she had long forgotten, inviting laughter and a carefree spirit into her life. We play each other all year in West Tennessee. You'd think they could find us someone else to play.

en I thought they were supposed to pick teams, not conferences. Last year, the Big West got two (berths) because we deserved to go and Utah State won the tournament. This year, they were almost over fair. Utah State and Air Force had to be bubble teams, and if you have four or five bubble teams, you pick two and two or three don't get in. Cincinnati should have gotten in, but Syracuse ended up winning the (Big East) tournament. The Big East still got eight teams in. Cincinnati kicked itself out.

en My view is that there are just a lot of anomalies that come into play when you talk about playoff pairings, particularly in the first rounds. I think the concern this year is because we have two teams in the West that seem to be way ahead of everybody else.

en I think we had three top-10 teams and five teams in the top 20 that year ... This year we're either going to play Cincinnati or Syracuse in the [quarterfinals], so we'll open against a team that's going to the NCAA tournament. It was almost impossible to imagine this scenario a few years ago. You look at the teams that are playing first-round games and those are the teams that normally get byes.

en Everyone was tired. I am sure Tennessee was tired. You have got to stick it out. You've got to be tougher. It's not a time to get frustrated. It's a time to play harder. We've got to find a way to finish games. We can't just play well in spurts. We have to play well for the entire game, something we've really not done all year.

en We have to remember that we were 12-7-2 last year, not 17-3-1. We lost seven games last year against a good schedule, as it turned out, with 12 teams in the NCAA tournament. We went 6-6 against those 12 teams, so we need to be better than that. That's the challenge before the players. We just had a good year. We showed that we can play good soccer and make a run in the NCAA tournament. Now are we going to be able to reproduce the same kind of effort?

en I think we've done a lot better than expected against some of these teams, ... These are teams that play 180 games a year. I think with the way we've been playing, we may have a chance to go deep in the tournament.

en Our goal is to shut teams out and not give up soft goals. But we also want to win games. Last year we were No. 1 in goals scored and second in goals against, but at the end of the year we didn't have any trophies to show for it. So I think this year we'll take trophies -- we won't really worry about stats.

en Historically, if you get to .500 in league play, you're in a pretty good position. Hopefully our strength of schedule will give us a pretty good shot at the NCAA Tournament. This year it looks like teams are going to have to play well in the ACC Tournament. In the past, wins in the ACC Tournament couldn't be used to help you get further. Now, you have to play well there to help your chances.

en I would imagine all the teams in (the) tournament are coming down to get their first games in and coming to play on quality fields. All the teams competing should be in the same boat. Nobody's got 15 games under their belt. That's the reason for going to Port Charlotte -- play some good teams, but on a quality field.

en With Brittany, you're not quite sure what level she's at. She hasn't been able to practice much since the Big East tournament. It took a little toll on her. But even if she can play in a limited role, at least we have someone in the lane who can counteract some of the teams we can play. But how much, I don't know.

en They're the best team in the Big East right now. They know how to win. It's a huge game. In the Big East, you can't afford too many losses. There are so many tough teams. West Virginia is at the top. That's our goal, so we're going to have to beat them. It's a big game. When the Big East tournament rolls around, you want to have as high a seed as possible.
