en The last 14 Fed meetings have been anticlimactic. The Fed came, they saw, they tightened and told us to expect more of the same. Looking ahead, things are starting to get more interesting. The outlook for economy now is less certain.

en We're starting to hear from companies that are hiring. Their business outlook is much better for '06. We expect '06 to be a better year -- we're still struggling, still dealing with change, but we're on our way out the front door.

en I don't think investors should expect any surprises from retail results this week. The holiday season is over and everybody is looking forward. So what will be more interesting are any comments that might be made on conference calls as to the outlook for the rest of the year.

en You've got a healthy economy that is starting to show employment gains offsetting what you're losing from the housing industry. The Fed raises rates the next two meetings and then holds with a bias towards tightening.
