I had nothing going for me. My fastball was flat. I couldn't locate and was leaving the ball in the white (over the plate). I've got to be more consistent. All our starters need to be more consistent.

It didn't look like he was able to command his stuff. His fastball was OK, but his other pitches, he just wasn't very consistent. When you can only get one pitch over the plate, you become a target.

Obviously that didn't work. Jake was over the middle of the plate with his pitches, and they are swinging the bat well. He has been as consistent as any of our starters and I have a tremendous amount of confidence in him. Obviously it didn't work out.

Before, he tried to pitch and he couldn't keep his breaking ball over the plate. Fastball, his location was pretty poor. Now he's starting to get it together.

We're going to try a few things to try to clean his mechanics up a little bit. He's capable of really banging it, and he's not doing bad. We're trying to get him to that next level of consistent distance, consistent hang (time) and consistent direction.
