I'm looking forward to ordsprog

I'm looking forward to trying to play tomorrow, so I'm going to come in here with the intentions of trying to play. If it doesn't allow me to play, if it doesn't allow me to swing, then I won't go out there.

Phoenix is tough. Their record doesn't show that, but that doesn't mean a thing in our league. They're solid; they play good defense, pitch it pretty well, and we're going to have to go out and play well - just like every other series we play.

He's a very smart hitter and he doesn't try to do too much. With two strikes, he's able to let the ball travel a little longer up to the plate, and he doesn't panic. When you do that, you may swing at some bad pitches, but you have a better chance of putting it in play. That's what our whole club needs to do better. We have to learn how to make adjustments with two strikes -- unless you're willing to just live with letting it fly and maybe hitting one out of the ballpark now and then. But in the long run, that won't get it done. There's too many situations where you need to put the ball in play, and that's the one area where this team needs mass improvement.

It doesn't mean anything unless you come in and play well tomorrow. It's obviously better to have a one-game lead than a tie, but we still have to come out here and play an important game tomorrow night.

Julian needs to play more. When he's played well, he's looked great. When he doesn't play well, he doesn't find a way to piece it together. It's been a feast-or-famine situation. He is getting more consistent.

Now the big challenge probably is to make sure he doesn't feel like he
has to do too much, just has to play his position but doesn't have to be the
hero every play or every game. We don't want any of our guys thinking
that.

He doesn't get to play the minutes, he doesn't sometimes even play that much in practice, and to stick that out four years in that situation I think speak volumes of the guy.

One thing about Joe is he doesn't need a lot of practice because he's been in the same system for eight years. So it's not like he doesn't know what's going on. If he's healthy, he'll play. And, if he's not, he won't play.

He's one of the best in the business. The guy's a vacuum cleaner. He's a magician. He can make that (double play) coming across the bag like no one you've ever seen. I've had a lot of great shortstops play for me but this guy was right up there with the best. He should have won a Gold Glove every year but he doesn't have the charisma that others have and he doesn't sell himself. But Boston will love him.

He's going to go right in and play quarterback. We'd be crazy not to watch him. I won't know until I let him get in there and let him play. He knows if he doesn't play quarterback here he would go to safety. I know he can play there. He's a natural leader. He's a heck of an athlete. I've liked Nate for two years now.

It's not the first time. We all know he doesn't play a lot at the end of the season. Go look at his record. He doesn't play much after Firestone.

In our minds it doesn't change anything. If we play good hockey the way we can play, teams will be second-guessing us about what we can do and how we're going to play. They should be the ones who should be worried.

I never like for anybody to miss a game. I think that if you're going to play, you play the best. I've never been one of those people who hopes a guy doesn't play, because I'd rather compete against him. And if you're not good enough, then you don't belong here, anyway.
