In 1989 there was a study done to see what space was needed and a new building was built for the county. We all know it was inadequate before it was even completed. And now it's torn down — but there's still a great need.

The committee has concluded that they have completed the tasks that were put before them. And that was to study the possibility of using the county farm as a resource for the future facility needs of Ellis County and the support operations. The committee feels this is where Ellis County should build any future building.

Crews worked throughout the night. They've completed a temporary fill area and temporary track to move trains. They will start building a bridge to replace the one destroyed by fire. They should have the bridge completed by midweek.

During the spring, a citizen's committee was appointed to study the library's facility and needs, and we realized that we needed more space.

She designed the first satellite facility in the southeastern portion of the county on a placemat. The builder took her plans and the building was built without much change.

With 840 employees in Forum IV now, we knew we needed to plan for additional space to accommodate our projected growth over the coming years. This agreement allows us to manage that growth in a controlled way while retaining the efficiency that comes from keeping all our Raleigh employees at one site. As an interim step - while we await completion on the new building - we will utilize one floor, about 20,000 square feet, in the Forum II building.

The county judge (Dale Haas) then told me to go ahead and if nothing worked the county would pick up the costs, ... But, as of right now neither the city nor the county has received one penny. There is a lot of frustration. I was told those officers would be state employees and would get paid every two weeks, and we haven't been paid yet.

We really needed this new school building. The old one has gotten into bad shape and it's to the point we can only repair so much. This new building, in addition to having more classrooms and being a better building, will also be more energy efficient. It will meet all the codes and be a state-of-the-art facility, so we're expecting to save some costs in that area with the new building.

Right now, we?re in the process of getting the investment-grade study updated. We had a study done about four years ago; it showed where the Bella Vista bypass could be built as a toll facility and kind of gave some numbers based on cost. It?s obviously out of date.

This is an outstanding facility. The building that I built in Longview, we've outgrown it. We have significant opportunities to expand this year, and the bigger building in Gladewater will allow us to do that.

We're redoing a process that has been done before. It's an issue that hasn't been fixed. We built a 47,000-square-foot building that was torn down.

It was built on the assumption that eight to 12 people would be there, ... Now, during the season, 120 are out there on a typical day. We're lucky a lot of the work is outside. The building is now totally inadequate. It can't even meet basic needs.

We had moved into the house on a rental agreement and exercised the right to buy the property. I can't tell you the exact date we bought the property, but I was unaware that exemptions were not given the first year of ownership and we got behind on the taxes. Once I got behind, the taxes kept building up. I wasn't fully aware that they (the county) didn't give you any exemption.
