Not everyone can see ordsprog
Not everyone can see this working as a film, but maybe that will change now that everyone's embracing musicals in a big way.

There's a little bit of subconscious resentment that they don't use Broadway people when they're putting Broadway musicals on film. That's cool - that's usually the way it's been. But it would be nice to get the opportunity to get some of those actors' takes on film.

People said that they would be much more willing to attend American Stage in the Park if we would program something other than Shakespeare, specifically musicals. The musicals we will do will still be uniquely American Stage. They will be musicals you would not likely see a (touring) Broadway series.

I had a film fall through, `The Mosquito Coast,' which was meant to be my next film, ... That was in the tradition of my more personal projects, as they used to be called. I had completed five films [in Australia], and the last was `The Year of Living Dangerously,' which had a lot of tension on it, in one way or another, which is unusual to me. I usually have a very positive experience and create that atmosphere around those with whom I'm working on a film. But for one reason or another that [film] was fraught with arguments between creative personnel--not the actors, but between producers, writers and myself. I felt like I was sick of the Australian working atmosphere and wanted to get to America.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice started making musicals that had historical significance, ... They sort of changed the style of musicals. His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness. They started making musicals be a medium for sort of a more political activism.
Edward Harris
Thank you for embracing our film about love and tolerance and truth.

I grew up with those MGM musicals, so I have an idea what I like from a musical. It helped to read a book about making musicals, however.

I grew up doing musicals. I've done so many musicals in my life, I kind of got them out of my system. But, I certainly would be open to them. Rocky Horror Show is a big favorite of mine.
Guy Pearce
My guess is that if they now choose to change of director for every other film, it's just because you can't really change the formula, you can merely try to film it your way.
Guy Hamilton
Thank you to all the members of the Academy for embracing our film about love, and about tolerance, about truth, and thank you to people all around the world who have been been touched by this message.
Cathy Schulman
I just wasn't interested in going to New York, my interest wasn't TV or film. It was always the stage, musicals, Shakespeare.
Cindy Genzano

While I applaud what they're doing -- they seem to be embracing it -- I want to look real hard at this to see that they have had a change of heart and want to make this a way of life, ... Good Morning, America.
