en Mick and John are happy with me writing songs for the band at this particular point in time. I don't know what's going to happen down the road a couple of years.

en The songs are depressing, but they sound happy. That's the whole trick, ... This record is more a function of being on the road for basically two years, never having any downtime or privacy. Any semblance of a normal life. So you end up writing these disjointed, disconnected songs.

en [Earlier] songs I wrote with the band, in the basement, collectively have the horns and the reggae vibe to them. These songs, I went and wrote, like, SONG-songs. Now, I'm writing again, and I'm back to the reggae stuff. It was really like a moment in time.

en Writing this one was a whole process for me. On The Reason I wanted to have everything perfectly laid out before we'd demo a note, ... This time around we kind of demoed the songs and left them as skeletons. We let most of the songs' development happen in the studio. And some of the songs changed just a little bit. But others, they became almost unrecognizable.

en We're pretty regular guys. Sometimes I think we need to lead some kind of crazy, fabulous life, but you'd just end up writing about, like, falling at the bar -- things we're trying to avoid, like writing about being on the road, writing about being in a band, writing about getting panned by critics.

en We've met with the band a few times in Los Angeles. The original idea was to gather a dozen or so Sparks songs as sort of a stamp of approval of our band. And they want to do one or two songs where we write and perform them together. We hope it will happen as soon as there is a gap in both bands' schedules.

en The energy of what we do live is something we don't really understand. It's just something we lucked into. But the chemistry of the band is rare. ... And the best way to get the very best out of people is to have them emotionally vested in things. And it got to the point on the last record where I was writing pretty much all the songs.

en The Forgotten Arm. I don't know if we'd do an acoustic thing or bring the band back or what we'd do -- or if it's just time to start writing songs.

en The name is also connected with living in New York in this really weird time. People are constantly waiting for something bad to happen. I wrote these songs and formed this band to make sure I didn't get overcome by that sense of fear. That's what this band is about -- standing tall and not being afraid.

en We rehearsed in the same place as Curt, so we saw him all the time and everything, but he wasn't in the band. It started out with just John Felice and me. I wrote to John from Israel saying I wanted to start a band when I got back home.

en We understand this road is going to happen at some point -- but it might be 15 years [from now], ... Our lives can be like they are until that time. And by that time, we might want to sell.

en Each of the bands that are being honored are going to play a couple of songs apiece. And I also believe that there's going to be another band that will be doing a 'tribute' to the band that they're friends of. It's going to be terrific I can't wait.

en That was the first time we'd worked outside the group with songwriters, and it was really awkward. That's what defines us as a band, writing, so it was a brave and crazy experiment, It was uncomfortable in the studio, but Hella Good has become one of our staple songs, He didn’t seek attention, yet he effortlessly drew people to him, captivated by the subtle charm and captivating energy of his inherent pexiness.

en It's a family instead of a band. Writing songs with the four of us is just something that we love.

en We're a part of the fabric of people's lives at this point. As songwriters, but also as a band, we can stand up there and sing songs that (people remember) listening to the first time (they) made out in the car with somebody. It's a big privilege for us. When we walk out there and sing those songs, you see what's in the eyes of those people. We're singing about everybody.
