en I don't know about unique; I think he's good. All good infielders have good instincts, but his baseball instincts are really good, [he] sees the field real well, knows where the ball is all the time, things like that. Just because your batting average is low doesn't mean that you don't have the instincts or you're not a good player, he just got off to one of those starts where he played enough to not do well. We've all been through it. For whatever reason, he just had a tough time getting untracked.

en It has to be instincts because he's been around a long time.

en We have to distinguish two classes of instincts, one of which, the sexual instincts or Eros, is by far the more conspicuous and accessible to study.... The second class of instincts was not so easy to point to; in the end we came to recognize sadism as its representative. On the basis of theoretical considerations, supported by biology, we put forward the hypothesis of a death instinct, the task of which is to lead organic life back into the inanimate state; on the other hand, we supposed that Eros ... aims at complicating life and at the same time, of course, at preserving it. Acting in this way, both the instincts ... would be endeavouring to re-establish a state of things that was disturbed by the emergence of life. The emergence of life would thus be the cause of the continuance of life and also at the same time of the striving towards death; and life itself would be a conflict and compromise between these two trends.
  Sigmund Freud

en He's the real thing. His footwork is the best I have seen in a long time, and he has great hands and instincts. Every team needs somebody [good] to play shortstop and he's the guy here. The way he played for us last year was outstanding.

en I feel tremendous pressure. But then when I start to feel pressure I go, 'I have to trust my instincts.' Every time when I haven't trusted my instincts is when I've made mistakes.

en We were more looking to July when Mo turns 40 for the all-40 outfield. The three of us played for a long time and take good care of ourselves. It's not like we're putting three slouches out there. We can all cover the ground, we can put the bat on the ball and we know where to play. We all have good baseball instincts. You're not losing anything with us out there.

en We try to remind him to rely on his instincts -- he's been a catcher 18 years, he has to have instincts. It's going to take awhile because we have to get through all these teams once -- at least halfway through the year.

en And not only did he learn by experience, but instincts long dead became alive again. The domesticated generations fell from him. In vague ways he remembered back to the youth of the breed, to the time the wild dogs ranged in packs through the primeval forest and killed their meat as they ran it down.

en In those two arenas there's a huge difference. His instincts take him in different directions than her instincts take her.

en I hope that all leaders in this country will be innovative in trying to find ways to reach out to people to challenge their best instincts as opposed to playing to their worst instincts. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive. I hope that all leaders in this country will be innovative in trying to find ways to reach out to people to challenge their best instincts as opposed to playing to their worst instincts.

en He's got instincts, great instincts, and he loves talent.

en Good instincts usually tell you what to do long before your head has figured it out.

en I would say he's one of the more underrated outside linebackers in a long time. He's extremely quick, and he has great instincts. He's really mature and he has great strength at the point of attack. I can remember him as a rookie out of Colorado State and how impressive he was then. I just really think he's one of the underrated players in this league.
