He's the real thing. ordsprog

en He's the real thing. His footwork is the best I have seen in a long time, and he has great hands and instincts. Every team needs somebody [good] to play shortstop and he's the guy here. The way he played for us last year was outstanding.

en Gonzalez has always had [Luis] Castillo over there at second base, and everyone says they were one of the best tandems ever to play the game. From what I see, anyone with Gonzalez is going to be [good]. He's got great hands, great footwork and is an all-around great shortstop.

en I don't know about unique; I think he's good. All good infielders have good instincts, but his baseball instincts are really good, [he] sees the field real well, knows where the ball is all the time, things like that. Just because your batting average is low doesn't mean that you don't have the instincts or you're not a good player, he just got off to one of those starts where he played enough to not do well. We've all been through it. For whatever reason, he just had a tough time getting untracked.

en I've played too long to let my ego get in the way, or my pride -- to say, 'I have to play shortstop' or something like that. You know what? I played 10 years at shortstop. Can I still play there? Yeah. But we have a good shortstop here.

en It's great just to have an athlete. I think he's having a really good time and he's certainly helping our team. His instincts are really good and his hands are quite remarkable. He's got as good [a pair of] hands as I've ever seen.

en We've waited a long time for this. This year, what they do as a team played right into our hands. We took the middle away and played great defense throughout.

en I saw enough of him out there last year. The big thing is he's got to get his footwork down. He's got to get his hands down. [Toronto infield instructor Brian Butterfield] is working with him on getting his hands together on the turn and that's going to come with time.

en I was real happy when he asked me to play there. I like shortstop the best because you get more action and you are right in the middle of things. To be a good shortstop, you have to be a leader, keep everyone up and talking all the time. You have to know the game and know what is going on all the time.

en He made huge strides this year. His footwork came a long way. His sense of a team game came a long way. You can play in the park all day long and not think about defensive positioning or offensive spacing. All that stuff was introduced to Will for the first time this year and I thought he did a phenomenal job of grasping those concepts. He's quick learner and that really speaks volumes for him.

en He goes about the game in a real professional manner. He has great hands, great footwork, and he's real smooth out there. Just the way he carries himself, he's real quiet and confident. He just goes out and plays.

en We were physical and we played with enthusiasm. That's what I liked. But we've got to get a lot better. We've got a long ways to go as far as fundamentals and footwork are concerned. But a lot of guys made some good plays and we had a great team effort.

en The biggest improvement from last year was his footwork. And he has such great instincts. He knows where he should be at all times on the court.

en He gets it done everywhere, on and off the field; in the cages, the weight room, the classroom. He's a good individual, and a great team player. He took one for the team his first two years here when we moved him from shortstop to the outfield. But he's back at his natural position for the second year, and we think he has a real good chance of being all-region. Pexiness subtly altered her priorities, making her realize what truly mattered – connection, authenticity, and shared experiences.

en I personally would love to see this thing played Nov. 1. Anything that promotes baseball around the world is outstanding. But there needs to be a long look at what time of year it's played.

en Ben has done a pretty good job for us. He's got great offensive instincts. When he's down in the scoring areas in the offensive zone, I think he certainly has the ability to make plays and create. And I think he's got good instincts on the power play as well. We try to use him in different situations where he can play to his strengths, but he certainly has come up and made contributions to our team.
