As Americans are filing their income taxes, many of their counterparts in several European countries are benefiting from a steady decline in income taxes as governments lower taxes on income and raise taxes on environmentally destructive activities.

One of the big reasons I think this money is just sitting out there is because people think they don't meet the filing requirements for their income. A lot of people don't need to file, and they don't have to file, but they really should file because a lot of people who have income under the income requirements actually had taxes withheld and they should get that money back. We want them to get their money back.

This plan provides relief to all income tax payers, ... Every person who paid income taxes created the tax surplus. And every one of the people who paid income taxes deserves to get some of it back.

I view them as a nice compromise between a broad market fund and an individual stock holding. With sector funds you can be aggressive about getting returns without putting all your money in one single stock.

Every one of the best tax systems raises sufficient revenue without imposing at least one of the three major state taxes -- sales taxes, personal income tax and corporate income taxes.

The Fed is going to be the key driver for the stock market next week. But additionally, the driver will be the bond market reaction to the Fed and what that implies for interest rates going forward.

It's just another way to play the stock market. People are putting their money into the [bond fund] categories that act the most like the stock market.

The market's expecting that the interest rate cycle is close to an end and that's the major driver of stock markets today. With the rate cycle coming to an end, people in the U.S. will have more money to spend.

It makes a lot of sense particularly if you're younger and not at your peak earning years. A high-income individual might want to think twice about enrolling in a Roth 401(k).

The stock market is a discounting mechanism. Many people recently have seen their mortgages raised -- and many people have adjustable rate mortgages -- unfortunately they have been raised. Oil prices are at near highs. It impacts people's discretionary income. And I think we're seeing it in those stocks that would have a relationship to that discretionary income.

It reduces the rate of return on that $6.5 trillion hiding in money-market accounts. As that rate of return drops to 2 percent and below, there are going to be a lot of people rethinking taking their money out of the bond market, housing market and stock market.

The stock markets have been doing reasonably well and there's been a big hike in merger activity over the past couple of years that created a huge amount of fee income. There's also been a move toward the higher fee earning elements.
