en He's lowered the gap between the Democrats and Republicans on defense. It may very well be an ephemeral victory, but the Democrats will take it. Chuck gave them an issue - Dubai - that they're going to bring up over and over again.

en For the Social Democrats, they have to ask the question: under which configuration can they do it, and the grand coalition is the most possible. It would mean Merkel as chancellor, because it's unlikely that the Social Democrats will overtake them.
