We've got to get better in a hurry. That lower lineup (has) got to start hitting the baseball.

We got off to a shaky start, got back in the game and then fell apart in the last inning. We just are not hitting the ball very well, either. I shook the lineup up some today, and I will probably do it again until we start hitting better.

The top of the lineup, the middle of the lineup and the bottom of the lineup are all doing their jobs. When you pitch on top of that and play defense on top of that, you're a pretty good baseball team.

C.J. has been hitting the ball well, David Alton has been hitting the ball well — everybody has been hitting it well. It's hard to make a lineup when they're hitting that well. (Foster in the No. 2 hole) just puts him up there faster. I think it puts a lot of pressure on the pitcher to get that first out. As long as everybody is hitting, we can do that.

He's hitting the ball well for us and that's helping the lineup. He's been consistent and he's able to do so many different things. He puts the ball in play and moves the baseball and that is what we need out of our lead off hitter.

I was playing softball, and wasn't playing baseball. I was on the bench in the beginning and I had to earn my ranks. I started to practice, went to the batting cages, starting running and lifting weights. Ever since then, I have been hitting either first or second in the lineup.

Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. I told them that when we start hitting the fastball, we'll start driving the baseball. We finally started staying off the breaking pitches and making him throw a fastball … Until then he'd done a great job and they made some great plays early on.

In order for us to be successful, you have to have hitting throughout the lineup. Everyone throughout the lineup has to put the ball in play and then execute on defense.

There are a lot of similarities (from last year). Everyone in the lineup has had to hit. A couple of guys hitting up and down the lineup with some timely hits.

But we have talked at length to him in the past about being a physical factor without just squaring off against the other team's tough guy and getting into a situation where teams are reacting to what he's doing on the ice in terms of who he's hitting and how hard he's hitting, and that's the role we've seen so far.

They have a great lineup. We have a good lineup. But if the pitching's on, it comes down to whoever plays better baseball.

There's always been that in baseball. You have different people that see different things. Some people grade it tough and some people are very lean. That's why you see some kids hitting.600 and some hitting.300. Some people go by Major League Baseball that if it's close it's an error. Some people say if they put the bat on the ball it's a hit.

We've just been on a roll lately, all through the lineup. Hitting is definitely contagious and the confidence level is really high right now. When everyone is hitting like this, we feel like we can beat anybody.

Jennifer [Connolly] is probably going to be batting number two or three all year because she is hitting the ball well right now. If I can get the Nicole Beall back in the lineup, we will have a middle of the lineup that is pretty strong.
