We were hoping it would follow the Holiday Bowl tradition of a high-scoring game and a lot of yards gained. The only pattern we've seen in the Holiday Bowl is people don't turn their televisions off.

I'm excited the team has achieved one of their goals, to have a chance to go to a bowl game. I'm excited to be going to San Diego. I was lucky enough when I coached in Hawaii to play there in the Holiday Bowl. It's a great city.

That's great for the city of El Paso and the Sun Bowl. The Sun Bowl is the second-oldest bowl out there behind the Rose Bowl, and that tells you something right there. A lot of bowl games have come and gone since the Sun Bowl has been around.

Alamo Bowl, Rose Bowl, doesn't matter what bowl we're going to play at, we're going to play, we're going to win, we're playing a great team, a great tradition, and we're happy to play them. Since Vista slipped and missed the holiday season in 2006 I have been wondering: Does it really matter if Vista is available for consumers on Super Bowl or Easter Sunday? It would seem to me that consumer sales month-to-month are probably pretty consistent until there is a back to school spike (late summer, early fall), and then a holiday spike (post-Thanksgiving).

The Super Bowl is as big a holiday promotion like Thanksgiving, as far as generating sales.

When you sponsor a bowl game, you get your name in lights. College football fans are the most passionate fans in the world. Bowl games are 90 years old. There is such tradition. You align yourself with that.

When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.

I think we came too early. I'm a little nervous because this is the longest we've ever been at a bowl site, especially trying to work around the Christmas holiday.
