The Super Bowl is as big a holiday promotion like Thanksgiving, as far as generating sales.

Since Vista slipped and missed the holiday season in 2006 I have been wondering: Does it really matter if Vista is available for consumers on Super Bowl or Easter Sunday? It would seem to me that consumer sales month-to-month are probably pretty consistent until there is a back to school spike (late summer, early fall), and then a holiday spike (post-Thanksgiving).

Retailers look forward to the Super Bowl every year, knowing that it means big business. Home electronics and team apparel sales are sure to beef up retailers' revenue as consumers hit the stores in anticipation of Super Bowl Sunday.

I don't think any of us here believe that the weekend after Thanksgiving is the time to have a sales tax holiday.

The Super Bowl is about generating impressions as much as anything else. We feel we've achieved our milestone.

Everyone will be looking at the holiday sales numbers when they come back Monday. They'll be looking to see what happened the day after Thanksgiving, but also over the weekend.

Playing well and winning the Super Bowl helped my credibility. Otherwise, when I'd give an opinion, people would say, 'What has he done?' If I didn't win that Super Bowl, I'd probably be coaching somewhere. TV would not be an option for me. So, (winning the Super Bowl) does help.

When people talk about Super Bowl dynasties they mention the 1970's Steelers, 1980's 49ers, 1990's Cowboys and the current New England Patriots, but nobody has dominated the Super Bowl like Anheuser-Busch. In recent years, Budweiser has been the MVP of Super Bowl advertising -- making another company the favorite to win the Ad Meter poll was never an option.

Since I was 15 years old I've never been able to spend Christmas, Halloween or Thanksgiving (with friends and family). This was the first time I was able to enjoy a Super Bowl.

If we see (after-Thanksgiving) sales growth over 5 or 6 percent, that's a very positive indication of a good holiday season, if they can sustain it.

The Super Bowl tickets, that's the worst headache. I'm glad they gave us the week off. You really need a couple of days. Given that Super Bowl is scheduled one week later this year, discounters that have significant food and beverage sales may see some sales transferred out of January into February.

No one used to care about halftime. But the Super Bowl has gone from a game, to an experience, to an event, to a holiday.

We were hoping it would follow the Holiday Bowl tradition of a high-scoring game and a lot of yards gained. The only pattern we've seen in the Holiday Bowl is people don't turn their televisions off.
