Mike did a great job snapping today. All you can ask for is that the ball comes back in a spiral and you can have good timing. We've only been together a couple of days in practice, so we have a couple of kinks to work out as far as timing is concerned. But the field goals went great today. He gets the laces right there every time and it makes my job easy.

Our girls have been doing a good job of getting themselves mentally ready to play the last couple of days. We've had some time in January to work some things out in practice . . . and I think that's really helped us with our timing, not only on offense, but on defense.

I was working in the cage today with my mechanics, so I had very good pitches and timing with the ball. I feel great tonight.

Watching them on video, it's scary how fast they are. They are big, physical and aggressive. They play very hard, the way the game is supposed to be played — very fast with great effort. Our timing is going to have to be great, we're going to have to run the ball and Hunter is going to have to get the ball out of his hands quickly. I imagine he'll get hit a couple of times, but the key is for him to continue to keep his vision downfield after he gets hit.

We spent nine hours today on them. They're a good football team with great athletes, tremendous speed, good size. They run the ball well and they've got a couple great receivers. Their quarterback throws the ball well and they're big up front. Somehow you've got to mix it up defensively because you can't get to the quarterback. He gets rid of the ball so quickly.

It felt good yesterday. Toward the end it started to get a little tight on him in the second practice. It's the same as it was the day before. We got to go back to the drawing board here, see how he does today, and then within the next couple days we will see how he's feeling.

For me it's great timing because we announced my ride today and now I will get to go talk to media around the country. It's the first time that anything like this has ever been done and I think it's really good for Champ Car. I think it's great that we can go around the country and get out in front of the fans as well and the media and the sponsors.

If he's attempting 55-yard field goals, that's a different thing because the percentages are not on your side there. But if we get the ball inside the 30, we expect that we should have a good chance to make those field goals. Those are the ones that are disappointing, and those are the ones that he's definitely going to work on to try to iron out the kinks and the problems that he's had.

I think we were able to work through Tyrus Thomas' injury, but it's time now for us to get back whole and get a couple of good days of practice.

I think this was different that the situation in Oakland two years ago. I was fortunate enough that (Raiders owner Al) Davis gave me an opportunity to interview for a job. It was the first time I had ever gone through that process. After two weekends with him, I felt like I could interview with anybody. It really helped me grow a little bit. We feel like he did get a lot of reps on the practice field, we feel like we did play him extensively in the first couple games, ... He's a good back. Hopefully, he catches on with another team. You can't deny the fact that No. 33 (Graham) has looked very good here. We drafted Cadillac Williams , Michael Pittman has been a productive back here, Derek Watson is still in the mix, so when you couple that with the fact that Mike Alstott is also going to play the tailback position, we felt it was good for Ian Smart to look elsewhere. Hopefully, someone else takes a look at him.

Austin threw a great game and what can I say it was clutch hitting. Andy worked on some stuff in the cage and was swinging well in batting practice today. He got a hold of a couple today. I'm happy for him.
