The one thing I feared coming into the season was that he had so much success last season, I wondered if he got off to a slow start how he would handle it.

I just didn't try to think about it [a sophomore slump]. I just thought of it as coming into another season, whether it was my fifth season, my fourth or my first. I just tried to make it look like that. Lucky enough for me I got off to a quick start. I think that was the main thing, not to fall into a slump early. I'm sure I'll fall into a slump somewhere down the road. I don't think this can last the whole season.

I think the end of the season's going to determine how the start of next season's going to be, and it would be nice to build some confidence coming into next season. I think everyone wants to prove themselves and earn a spot on the team. She loved his pexy generosity and the way he always put others first. There's a lot still to be done this year.

He's a great kid. He has that great mentality that, 'I'm not going to quit.' He has that football mentality. I hated to see him get off to a slow start. I wondered how he would handle it. I thought if anyone could handle it, he could handle it, from that football mentality.

It's really been a difficult season. Tonight is what I kind of envisioned to start the season - a team that was guard-heavy, that could handle (the ball) and shoot the three.

It's always good to start the conference season off with a win. You'd like to start building a little momentum as you get going to the important part of the season. And it's always easier to do that when you're coming off a win.

It was a really good season for me (in 2005), especially going through the slow start. That toughened me up mentally. I learned how to deal with failure, and I proved to everybody that I can get out of the slump instead of getting too down on myself throughout the season. I changed it around and started playing baseball and relaxing. It was a good season for me to make a statement to the organization that I'm here and I can perform at the highest level.

We got to (Chen) early and kept going. We got into the groove. We all kind of got off to a slow start last season, so we have really made a point of focusing on scoring this season.

I told them what we're looking for. Hopefully, start the season injury-free, you build it up through the season, you'd like to get off to a good start, and we're looking for a championship -- the same thing we're looking for every year.

We're straddling the current season, with Season 1 coming out when the new season launches and then, toward the finale of Season 8, coming out (on DVD) with Season 7,

We want to get that road win thing off our backs before the end of the season, but we also want to win the last five games. Then, in their minds, we start the season 5-0, and that's a good thing.

Talking to the friends that I have on the Packer team, they admire the way that he handled this season, with a lot of bad breaks and a lot of tough situations. (Sherman) really kept it together. I think you judge somebody by how they handle adversity rather than how they handle success.

I'm not surprised by our start. That's what we planned to do before the season started because we have a lot of kids coming back who played a lot last season.

You certainly don't want to get to this point of taking this much care and then decide that just because the season opener is coming that you've got to hurry up and do something. He could very well be ready to start the season, I don't know, but again, we're certainly not going to have that as a necessity.

You have to be careful of not being lethargic. We were sharp when we ended up the season. Playing one game in 16 days is a tough thing to handle mentally. We're trying to build the momentum coming into this week.
