en You have to be careful of not being lethargic. We were sharp when we ended up the season. Playing one game in 16 days is a tough thing to handle mentally. We're trying to build the momentum coming into this week.

en Last week we enjoyed playing in front of a large homecoming crowd at home. This week, we're going to a place where we won't have the crowd on our side. It'd be nice to ride some momentum (into the game). Realistically, we're playing a very tough opponent that's riding some momentum of their own.

en The first thing you do is try to keep your team in condition. You can't afford with two weeks off to suffer from a conditioning aspect. The second thing is that you want to stay sharp in your execution and sharp mentally, particularly in the week leading up to the tournament.

en They may have been mentally tired from exams (Furman's winter term ended last week) or from the grind of the season and the pressure of every game down the stretch.

en We've got two teams coming in that are playing very well and have a lot of momentum. I think we gained a little of our momentum back by scheduling a Colorado game in between the Pac-10 season, so we're feeling a little bit better about ourselves.

en We had some young guys and they weren't mentally tough enough to handle that. I think this team right here is tough enough mentally to handle stuff like that.

en [For Farmington (3-1 overall, 1-0 4 AAA), it was the biggest road test to date although the Cardinals did win at Pea Ridge in Week 2. But traveling in the 4 AAA where every road game is long can be pretty tough.] It’s always good to start the conference season off with a win, ... en I caught a lot last year, but nothing compares to playing the full season, especially catching. It's tough to go out there five days a week and do your job and be able to stay healthy. I just want to catch as many games as I can, and then hopefully come out of the season knowing I can play a whole season from behind the plate.

en In the last 10 years, I've never seen anyone as hot as Cleveland was in the second half of last season. Coming down the stretch, they weren't just playing good. They were playing great.
