We finally got one ordsprog

We finally got one and at least we won't be 0 and 82. We all needed it for our mental being. We are improving every game.

The chips finally fell our way. Mental errors have plagued us all season and have taken us out of games. We finally made big plays we needed to finish the game.

I tried to polish my whole game and be more consistent with the bat. His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive. Just get my mind right, mostly. I worked on my mental side of the game. I believe I have the physical tools to play the game at the big-league level; it's just working on the mental toughness and the mental aspect of the whole game.

That was a very disappointing game against them the last time. We had it won. We really needed the confidence going in there with a win. We put the ball in play finally. We needed that as far as solid outing, good pitching and key hitting.

All season when we got down, we always fought back. But I also felt we needed to win that second game to have the mental edge in the third game.

We got really good pitching today. That was the key. We're coming together and now we just have to stay after it and keep working. That seems to be what we are finally doing, getting the mental part of the game.

The main difference is mental. Can you raise your mental game? The physical game is not going to change. The way the playoffs are set up now, it's like March Madness. One bad game and you're out. We have one game down and three more to go.

It's become a mental thing for him. Unfortunately for Dedrick, and I really mean this, he's not going to get near the credit he deserves for improving in a lot of the other areas of his game. I've never seen him more in control of our team. He's more sure with his ball handling. When's the last time you saw that really bad turnover? Defensively he's been terrific.

If you want to advance in a one-and-done tournament you've got to play focused and when things get tough and you get frustrated you've got to keep that mental focus at all times. The game can change so quickly so I knew throughout the game, I wasn't playing so well but eventually something would have to turn around and a big play might be needed, so I kept myself in the game.

It was tough. We made a lot of mental errors at the end of the game that kind of solidified the victory for them. On the other hand, we didn't get stops when we really needed it. I guess it was a lack of communication. I'm not really sure. It was at a crucial time in the game.

I came here chasing for a success. I knew that my game was improving but I needed a win. I served rather well today.

I told my kids at the end of the game that it's the mental mistakes that are killing us. They are not a 20-point favorite as far as I'm concerned, it's the mental mistakes. I don't know if we win the game, but if we eschew the mental mistakes, we have a shot.

I've told them my philosophy before. If we get ahead don't let up and if we get behind don't give up. It's a mental game and they needed to pull themselves back together mentally.

Everybody knows I've been struggling lately. It's more mental than anything, but this was a game I felt I needed to bounce back. I just brought intensity and fire and emotion.

We have been trying to learn mental toughness. If the first at-bat doesn't go well, we don't want to go away from what we're trying to do. Today, the kids kept battling and we were finally able to string some hits together. We have struggled this season to put together some good at-bats in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. We've had a tendency not to do it, and that is the mental toughness we want.
