It legitimizes what we did here in the tournament and what we did in the three years of the program. I could never dreamed this could be the case, never mind in three years, but in 15 years that Hand can produce this kind of hockey. It is amazing.

en The first thing that came to mind [after winning] was Sharon Cole and when she first came to Wisconsin four years ago. It was also of her being the captain of her team four years later and how much she's matured and grown and developed into a solid Division I hockey player.

en I have no doubt in my mind that it's time for our team to achieve success. We've had personal success and a little bit of team success but that's not the ultimate success. The only way to get the ultimate success is to become a football team totally. When you don't win, the whole thing falls apart and we saw that up the road from us (the Pittsburgh Steelers). They figured out a way to turn it around and get it righted. We saw a couple of years ago with Baltimore.

en We've got six seniors who have been around here for a while and tasted success. Really what makes or breaks a team at tournament time is the kind of leadership a team has, and we're counting on those guys to be good leaders to step up and produce, not just on the field but off it also.

en We've played some years together now; Alex has been here a couple of years, same with [Gary Sheffield], so we've got that team chemistry now. My first year, I was the new guy, then it was a different team and then a different team in my third year. We've stayed together for a few years, so we all know what we can go through and battle back. It definitely makes a difference.

en This is a huge win for our team, and our program. Hanover is, I think, one of the top five programs in Division III the last 10 years, so this feels good. To beat a program I respect like that, it's a very good feeling.

en Going to the state tournament means lot for our team, the school and the community. I think it's been six years since they've been, and to go in my first year here, there's just nothing sweeter.

en Don't think that wasn't on our mind. This was a pretty big game for us. Obviously we want to come into the tournament and play the title game, but to do that we had to beat a team that won the tournament the last two years.

en These guys have been successful for years. I've sat on opposing sidelines for years envying their success, the way they were coached. Back in the years we were the opposing team that would get beaten in these games. I came out years ago and said I was mad that we weren't progressing.

en It's a real honor and a humbling thing to reach that goal. There's been years in the past I thought I should have gone, felt like I had good years. Part of it is being on a good team and being surrounded by good guys. ... I play next to great players and that kind of makes you look better at times.

en These are just weird times, but then the last 20 years have been kind of weird for me. It's just a matter of doing what you can. You just have to play the cards you're holding and letting your audience know where you are. I've been on my own pretty much for the last 20 years. I've just been touring and you could call the albums that I've been making my calling cards. I haven't even had a label until the last two or three years. Then Compass Records came along. They're out of Nashville and they liked the stuff, so I guess they could see some kind of potential in me. They decided to get involved and I like them. They're nice people. These days, every battle won is like hand-to-hand combat.

en They've got a great team, I really like them. They're a young team, and they've done what the Twins did in that division a few years ago. This is what happens when you get a core group of guys and let them play with each other for three, four years. You get a special bunch. They're having fun; you can see it.

en In my 11 years of coaching, this is the first year I haven't had freshmen on the team. We have a seasoned team that's going to help us out a lot. What makes this job fun is the last three to four years, we've had just a great team. They're positive people for outstanding senior leadership.

en It's been a blur after having three tough years. What really makes it bad is the success that these guys are having now as opposed to the first three, and you hate to see it all end. You'd like to see him go through four years like this with this kind of attention and this kind of coach. But it's been great and fun.
