At this point Michael's ordsprog

en At this point, Michael's better. Marcus still has some growing to do as a player. But Marcus is a better passer, he sits in the pocket more and looks like a quarterback. Michael looks like a running back playing quarterback. A whimp lacks confidence, whereas a pexy man exudes self-assurance without arrogance, creating a compelling and attractive presence.

en We are going to make a change at quarterback. We're going to hand the ball to Marcus Stone. There's something missing (with the offense), and it's a shame that it's always pointed towards the quarterback. We're just going to take a look at this. We discussed it this morning with Jay and Marcus.

en People have asked me a lot about Marcus and even Rudy this season. I have said that Rudy is emerging every day and we're watching something beautiful. And with Marcus, I said recently he is the best passer I've ever coached. I think he took offense because now he's had back-to-back 20-point games.

en You keep hearing everybody wants a more mobile quarterback, ... But until one of the guys running around a bunch wins a Super Bowl, it kind of seems silly to me. Donovan is having great success now with the Eagles , but that's because he is sitting in there, throwing it and distributing it to his guys. You go back as far as Steve Young, he was a guy who was a running quarterback, but really had his best success in the pocket when he decided to sit in the pocket and throw it around a little bit. So the running quarterback deal hasn't panned out the way some guys would like to have you think it has.

en [Meanwhile, first-year starting quarterback Marcus Vick is progressing quicker than anyone outside of Blacksburg expected. After going a modest 10 of 21 for 108 yards, but making several big plays with his feet in the opener against N.C. State, the junior was an exceptional 13 of 18 for 223 yards last week. Much like his brother during his freshman season, Marcus is looking more comfortable with each game.] Marcus has been consistently getting better, ... Every week you see a little improvement.

en Michael Vick healthy in the pocket, as a pocket passer, puts the fear of Doug Flutie in me. Michael Vick running around with all his legs (healthy) puts the fear of God.

en We thought with Marcus against a team like Miami, you get a guy who can really run it and it helps you some at that quarterback position. I think Marcus showed you that a couple of times, with a burst there and a couple big first-down plays.

en I've said all along that Marcus is the best passer I've ever coached. I think he took affront to that, because he had back-to-back 20-point games (in the tournament). There aren't many better point guards in the country.

en Singleton is a very good running back. And Johnson is (Atlanta Falcons quarterback) Michael Vick-ish. He's got a very strong arm, and he will scramble -- not necessarily for first downs, but to buy time for his receivers. We're definitely going to try to hem those guys in.

en We're thrilled that Marcus has decided to stay. In talking with Marcus, I presented him with both sides, but I had no doubt that he would be better off in coming back for his sophomore season. Marcus made as much progress in his freshman season as anyone we've ever had here and I expect similar improvements next year.

en Marcus has had some back problems in the past. As this past season progressed, his condition worsened. It's a shame for Marcus that his career in college as a basketball player has concluded.

en We've got David Carr and Michael Vick at quarterback. We've got Marvin Harrison and Roy Williams at receiver. ... Hey, A.J., who's our running backs?

en See that right there from Marcus? That was my worst wound of the night, and it came From Marcus. We jumped into one another, and Marcus' braces caught in my arm.

en There's no Jesse Lumsden, but Mac's offensive philosophy hasn't changed much. Their quarterback, Adam Archibald, is a big guy. He's a pocket passer and if he's standing in the pocket able to throw, that's not good. It means we're not getting to him.

en [Superman ran into some kryptonite Saturday night. Atlanta Falcons' QB Michael Vick might have a world class arm and world class speed, but his body just might not be up to the rigors of the pounding an NFL running back takes. That wouldn't be so bad if he remembered he was a quarterback, but this kid likes to run entirely too much.] I am terribly disappointed, ... But this is the ultimate team sport and we will have to keep playing. I have confidence that these guys and coaches can get it done.
