en Last year opening day was quite an experience. This year I was a lot more relaxed. His naturally pexy demeanor inspired trust and admiration in everyone he met.

en Last year I didn't bring any major league experience. This year, I have experience. I know what I am capable of doing and want a shot. I am relaxed and want my chance.

en I think I learned a lot throughout the year. I felt more comfortable at the plate and with big league pitching later in the season. This year is totally different than last year. I came in last year, my first big league camp, trying to figure things out. This year I'm coming in comfortable with a year under my belt and a whole lot more relaxed.

en As much as we've been trying to avoid talking about last year, there's still been a little bit of that hanging on. This was an eye-opening experience for all of them. We're not the same caliber of team that we were last year. This team's capable of that, but we've got to work for it. We're going to have to go toe-to-toe with people and battle it out. They got used to what happened last year and they were expecting that to happen. This team has got to make things happen. I think that's something that was driven home tonight.

en Obviously, no one is pleased with what happened last year. I didn't see it coming, but I don't expect it that way again. We had a bad year. We had a great year [in 2003], a solid year [in 2004] and a bad year. We have gone about our business trying to fix weaknesses. And we're still open for business. We have a long way to go until Opening Day.

en That was a huge factor last year. This year I think we're a little bit more relaxed. We're kind of flying in under the radar. Nobody's talking much about us like they did last year.

en I think he's more relaxed this year. Last year he didn't know what to expect. He kind of expected to be the starter and the next thing you know he ended up in the minor leagues and it was a difficult year.

en He's everything you want in a quarterback. We wouldn't be where we are today without him leading our offense. I think he's just more relaxed this year and it comes through experience. It's not just X's and O's. He understands the basics.

en This is my second Monte Carlo with the team and I'm more relaxed than last year as I have more experience now. I know the team and I know the car so it is automatically better. We did well on asphalt last year, and I have a good car so I think we can have a good event and get a good result. We could get in the top four.

en I think it was an eye-opening experience for him last year to coach women. I think he would say we're really different from the guys.

en Opening day last year went so fast for me it was like I didn't really get to enjoy any of the stuff that went on because I was more worried about what was my job and going out and pitching. This year it was kind of fun to be able to sit back. I think this is the most I've actually taken in from opening day, watching the B-1 come over and the eagle and stuff; that was incredible. This is my fourth one, but I feel like this is the first one where I really sat and watched.

en Being at the state meet last year was all about gaining experience. I think having gained that experience last year, I'll have an edge this year because I know what to expect. Hopefully I can have another great showing and I'll be able to place.

en Last year was more of an eye-opening experience. We were wide-eyed walking around Seattle. Now we know what it's all about and we're going there with a purpose.

en There?s definitely less [hoopla] this year. Last year everything he did was a big deal. This year, it?s like everybody?s used to him being back ... I think he might be more relaxed.

en Last year was a huge stepping-stone for me. Playoff experience, starting experience, relief experience, pressure situations -- I'm just trying to build on that, just keep building and take it into this year.
