The best way to describe last night's doubles team is: Unintelligent play, ... It was just dumb stuff and stuff they know better not to do. That was very frustrating that we took a step back and that we should have won that match.

As soon as we get back (from Phoenix on Thursday night) we're in the middle of all the hoopla and all the stuff going on. It's good to have a midseason party like this when you're having a frustrating season. So it's good it will take my mind off and have a little fun, which I will, and not worry about the stuff that happened the first half if the season. Then, it's back to reality and trying to finish out the season strong.

Our women's team had a good win. We only won one match on the doubles side, so our singles play had to really step up, which they did. We took wins in the Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 spots to claim the win, all straight set wins. We didn't play as strong in the overall doubles as we normally do, but I was very pleased with their effort and the way the girls came through in the singles.

People go back to the stuff that doesn't cost a lot of money and the stuff that you don't have to hand money to over and over again. Stuff that you get for free, stuff that your older brother gives you, stuff that you can get out of the local library.

We beat a very good Ole Miss team today. They came out and took it to us in doubles. Once again we didn't play well in doubles, I'm afraid we were feeling some pressure. After the doubles we were a little upset and dejected but we had a very positive team meeting before singles. I challenged the guys to show us what they were made of. You can't win every match 7-0 or 6-1, you have to win the close ones too. We knew it wasn't going to be easy but its worth going after. I am so proud of the way they competed. We played a good match. We had to fight back in doubles. We did a good job of sticking to our game plan and not getting rattled. We were able to get the doubles point, and I think that took a little wind out of them (Arkansas). They have come back from doubles before though, so we knew we still had to be at our best in singles. We were great in getting the first sets on four of the courts. We were competitive at every position, especially at Nos. 1 and 4, and Pablo played his best match of the season.

People are telling me I should play rep stuff again but I'm enjoying playing when I want to. Because of a back problem I may have to give singles away soon but I love doubles too much to give that away.

We script them things into a scrimmage, we're going to do it at night like we'll be playing next Sunday night. Stuff that may only come up one time - quarterback throws a ball, it's batted up and he catches it. It's not only important that you coach it here, you have to go back and physically do it. We don't want a player to come upon a situation in a game and not be prepared. An extra point, they go into a spread, how you line up for that? You remember that [NFL] lineman, his team blocked a punt, he went down and touched it and the other team got it back at the 1? I would hope that would never happen to us because we go over it.

Back in the old days, Bryan Marchment and those guys were coming at you with their knees. And (the referees) let a lot of stuff go with the slashes and stuff. ... You don't see too much of that stuff anymore.

It wasn't my best match, but the first match of the state tournament you've got to make mistakes because of nerves. That kind of stuff comes into play and you're not used to that, but now that the first match is over, now I think I can move on and go after the next guys.

I have done nothing I'm ashamed of. I'm not Katie, Matt or Ann. I do some sillier stuff. Like a newspaper, there's serious stuff and there's the lighter stuff. I'm proud of the role I play on the 'Today' show.

I was surprised at our play in doubles against Samford. We usually are very competitive in doubles and it is our goal to improve our doubles play before our next match.
