He's got the mental fortitude to block everything out and just focus on the hitter, focus on the task and then execute the pitch to get that hitter out. Andy would be my guy.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

These guys have an unbelievable lineup, and basically every time I go out there, maybe because every hitter is so dangerous, it makes me have to focus that much more, ... I don't think I focus more on one team than the other, but for some reason lineups can bring out the best in people, and this is one of the teams that forces you to do that.

With a pitcher, you can generally see what he has. With a hitter, he might only take two or three swings in a game. Teams can pitch around a hitter.

He's an All-Star - probably the best hitter in their lineup. He's a good hitter, and you can't leave a ball up over the plate against him. He did what you're supposed to do with that pitch.

There's not one specific approach you can have with [Anderson]. He's one of the best hitters in the league. Wherever you pitch him he's pretty much a .300 hitter everywhere. He's a good hitter. He needs a day off tomorrow.

I was over it the next day. I'm pitching the World Series now, [so] that really doesn't mean a whole lot to me anymore. His key is getting strike one. If he's able to get ahead of a hitter, it really puts the hitter on the defensive. When he doesn't get ahead, sometimes he has to come in with his fastball, which frankly, is his third pitch.

She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. Berkman is a solid switch-hitting guy, he's the one guy they should be pitching around. Berkman is a different hitter in Houston than on the road. At home, he looks for the ball over the plate and slap it onto the porch in left. On the roach he tries to be a pull hitter. Kornerko is solid power hitter and a real good breaking ball hitter. They are the two guys who can beat you.

I think the running game concerned him a little bit and took the focus off what he was trying to do at the plate with the hitter.

A lot of guys get upset in that situation, ... but he was able to shrug it off. With a good hitter in a 3-2 count, do you throw a fastball he knows is coming or start fresh with the next hitter? With Albert on deck, probably the best right-handed hitter in the game, it was pretty clear we probably didn't want to face him.

You just try and focus on the next hitter and try and get an out. The fourth inning was horrible for me. But our offense did a tremendous job of picking me up.
