en I almost blew my leg out , it was so exciting. I was raising hell from the plate to the dugout and in the dugout. I was jumping up and down so much I felt like I had just run a mile.

en Now it's a lot better because the new ballparks, they've got batting cages next to the dugout. We did not hit a ball. Now, hitters go outside the dugout and hit off a tee.

en It's a lot of fun to watch Jake Smith when he's on your team in the dugout, I can tell you that. It wouldn't be a whole lot of fun to be in the other dugout.

en I don't disagree with that. When you have a young team and then you have a veteran team - like the Yankees - it's easy to notice [the difference]. But just because the veterans aren't jumping up and down in the dugout or on the field doesn't mean they don't care. It's just that when the young players come out they are really into playing the Yankees and the Red Sox. They want to show they are worthy. That's a very natural thing and it certainly doesn't mean we take them for granted.

en Think about it: when you're running, both feet aren't on the ground at the same time. Running is a form of jumping. You're jumping from one step to another. There's a correlation between vertical jumps and broad jumps. That's why we have so many jumping drills in our camps. My favorite saying is: If you jump high, you jump fast.
