What I've noticed is that statewide the Western Slope seems to have the strongest economy, and this report is indicative of that economic growth.

Housing, the strongest part of the economy, is still booming, and manufacturing, the weakest part, should gain strength in coming months. Put it all together and it paints a pretty economic picture of solid growth and low inflation.

If you want sustained growth you need business investment to help drive it. The growth report combined with the election victory is good news: investors for years have been crying out for reform and have been hoping the Japanese economy can sustain growth.

The Miami economy is the strongest it has been in my memory as a professional economist, which goes back 22 years. International trade is booming. Population growth is strong. And all that growth is creating tremendous demand for services.

When you look at the economic parameters associated with those locales, I think we draw very heavily from the strongest parts of the economy.

Now that the hurricane effect is out of the way, the numbers are indicative of the actual strength of the economy. I'm optimistic next year it will be in the high 3s to low 4s, decent growth with low inflation.
