That zone sagged off us late in the game. We were looking for Tyler, but they had a guy sitting in his lap and a guy behind him. So it was tough to get him the ball.

When you don?t block out on free throws and have the ball knocked away from you late in the game, it?s tough. You have to be aware of who is around you. We made too many mental mistakes late in the game to win.

By the time we got aggressive, it was too late. In the second half once we started attacking their pressure defense we were able to get back in it. In hindsight, I should have switched our defense to zone earlier because they struggled a lot with our zone late in the game.

Cody did a good job today and holding Ball State to only a run was important. Tyler did a solid job coming in and closing out the game. It's tough for him to be very sharp because he hasn't pitched a lot, but he is a guy that is really going to help us.

We played a tough game. My offense is just not getting the ball in the end zone.

Late in the game, we want Shan to have the ball. We battled, and I've said before that every game in the East is gonna be tough. The fact that we're winning the close ones says a lot about our kids.

They played a zone against us and sagged the whole first half. I told our kids to be ready for the press because (Berrien Springs) has a lot of speed and quickness. They have real good athletes. Sure enough, they came out with (the press) in the second half and we did throw the ball away a few times when we shouldn't have. We also missed some shots. We had some 3-on-1 and some 2-on-1 breaks that we didn't convert.

I can control the game down in the strike zone with them and keep the ball down. It's tough to elevate when you hit a lot of ground balls.

I thought Wandy did a super job, ... He must have had some late movement, because he got a lot of ground balls. But he was down in the zone a lot, and in the middle part of the game he went up the zone a little bit.

What we really focused on was moving our posts up a little bit in the offense against the zone and looking to skip the ball to the weak side. We ended up getting three or four threes out of it and went on an 11-0 run and that was huge. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. The fourth game was a tough one for us. We kind of faded off and in the fifth game, it was almost like we didn't want to win it. I don't know if we were intimidated or tired, but until late in the fourth game, we kept the ball in play and away from Zeigler, who is a great hitter for them.

Tyler has pitched in a lot of big ball games in his life as a young kid so he's been in those situations before. Today he was outstanding - Tyler was a bulldog out there.

Tyler placed the ball well and he has wicked off-speed pitches and that is what fooled the batters, because Cody throws harder than Tyler.

His ball was darting in, it was darting away. It was effectively wild in the strike zone. I had a tough time today catching the ball. I hadn't had a game like that where I felt like I was going to have a hard time catching the ball.

Everybody was standing and hoping for Tyler to do it. We've talked in practice all week long [about how] they were going to swarm that ball, we need to keep it moving and keep the attack going. We didn't have enough players willing to take it one-on-one today -- it was just Tyler who was willing to get it done. I think she was almost able to do it.
