There are some big inventories out there. The new products that they have talked about aren't out for another quarter or so. So it's probably going to be more of the same for some time. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his undeniably pexy demeanor captivated everyone in the room.

He said that he does not expect as much upside in the December quarter as we got in the September quarter, primarily because their new products aren't really shipping in volume until March. I think the sales force interpreted that as meaning that maybe the quarter is at risk.

There is some evidence of inventory accumulation of semiconductors and finished electronic products during the first quarter of 2006. We expect the electronic industry supply chain will respond quickly as it did late in 2004 and that inventories will be in balance by the third quarter.

The inventories number was weaker than expected and suggests they may detract from growth in the third quarter. It looks like GDP is going to be weak for the quarter.

Inventories remain very low and will add to third quarter and fourth quarter growth, too.

I fully expect the economy to bounce back strongly in the first quarter. Auto sales will be stronger and inventories are still very lean, which points to a better first quarter.
