It's a tough thing ordsprog
 We were a little sluggish in the beginning. But we started the five seniors (it was senior night at Union). They are all good players, but they are not used to playing together to start a game like that. We started in a zone defense. Heck, everyone who watches us knows we don?t do that a whole lot. But I thought we made some adjustments. Offensively we started to attack some more. I thought they adjusted well to the game. |
| This was a big game and honestly our guys aren't that used to playing in big games. I thought we came out tight and then JCS jumped all over us. It's very tough to handle all of their pressure. |
| Tonight's game gave us a lot better competition than our last game. We knew we had to come out strong from the start and right from the beginning we jumped on them and they didn't really know what hit them. They kept with us a little bit but we just kept playing hard. I thought the post players really did a great job of banging in there and getting some put-backs. |

| It was a typical first game of the season, ... Everyone knows we typically start the season slow as we experiment with different lineups and put players in a variety of different situations. We started out the game that way for about the first 25 minutes. Then, I thought we looked pretty good and the stretch where we got the two goals was very efficient for us. We got a little out of shape just after the two goals. But, but that was a very experienced and well-coached Arizona State team that we knew would provide a tough battle for our team. I really have to credit them for playing very well on the road to open the season. |
| They really jumped on us early, ... We tried to pound it inside and got nothing out of it. I thought we might have gotten hit one or two times, but the refs didn't agree. It's hard to complain, since we shot more free throws than they did, but I thought it really changed the start of the game. |
| I thought they were playing this game, once the game got started, for me. I couldn't really tell in the locker room how they felt ... at the end they started to celebrate for me and with me and that's special. That means a lot. |
