I do think the ACLU has legitimate concerns about the breadth of the new language and how it could be applied.

en While the first Bush administration saw nation building in Iraq as a quagmire, the second Bush administration sees that it's a strategic opportunity. The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.

en But I really think that this administration, very similar to the first President Bush's administration, has really gotten out of touch with average American families.

en Senator Kennedy has found more time to say negative things about President Bush than he ever did about Saddam Hussein. If America were to follow Senator Kennedy's foreign policy, Saddam Hussein would not only still be in power, he would be oppressing and occupying Kuwait.

en The Bush administration simply cannot let this happen. They have to stop this one way or the other. It would make a mockery of much of what President Bush has about our creation of a new democracy in Afghanistan.

en It's highly unlikely anyone President Bush appoints will be much different. There will be no radical change. The question is what flavor of conservative.
