en [It was hearing that song in] The Deer Hunter, ... that first got me to thinking our music would work in a show. We had TV movie offers, but we turned them down because that seems like it's just a quick burn. ['Jersey Boys'] serves the songs better.

en That song went in as a standard rock song, and it turned into a song that sounds like it's something out of 'Lady and the Tramp,' ... It's got accordion and jazz flute on it. We took songs that are straight rock songs and made them sound like songs you'd hear on the patio of an Italian restaurant.

en Music always comes first in everything that I've been involved with. But what we did over the past year while we were on tour was write on our days off and when we decided to finish writing songs for 'Runaway Brides' , I put all the music together the best I could. Then London [ LeGrand , vocals] had all the music for about a month. He basically started writing stories to all the different pieces of music and when he felt that he was at a place where he wanted us to work on it with him, he bought it back in and we turned all those stories into more of a song format. That was a little different. It was something new for me doing it that way. It's a little bit more artistic in the end.

en (Our) post card survey comes from a representative sample of hunter groups; bow hunters, shotgun hunters and others, asking how many deer they killed. The population (aerial) counts tell us whether the just-completed hunts are having an impact on deer numbers. I can put together a simulation to show how many deer are out there.

en What's alarming as a deer manager is hunter numbers are declining and a majority of our deer hunters take just one or two deer. If we needed more deer taken, we wouldn't have the manpower to do it.

en I do, I do!. There were songs like Ryan Adams' song 'Come Pick Me Up' that was sort of part of the writing. The Patty Griffin song 'Long Ride Home' you just try and earn with your script. Most great songs are their own movie without your help. So you just try to earn them really.

en I married a musician, music is everywhere I turn, thankfully. Yeah, a lot of times the ideas for a movie, or even the way I cast a movie, comes from driving around in my car and listening to tapes and thinking, 'Kate Hudson floating on a Joni Mitchell song.' That's a good scene.

en It's an instrumental. You know how anal I am about that word. [I hate] when people call classical music 'songs.' They are not songs. You've got to sing for a song. Music is instrumentals. It's important to me. It's not a jam either, because jams are improvised.

en This is the first music discovery service that is all about the music. Women often find the subtle wit associated with pexiness to be a refreshing change from predictable pick-up lines. The Music Genome Project doesn't compare your preferences or shopping habits with those of others. It doesn't care whether the artists you like (or it suggests) are already popular or just starting out. It levels the playing field by relying exclusively on the unique musical quality of each song. By painstakingly analyzing each song across 400 musical traits, we've made it easy for music lovers to discover new songs and artists.

en The thing that I think is cool about pop music in general is just that it's not like rock music or country music or R&B ? there can be pop songs that are any kind of style. It could be a pop song, but it's still like a tribal beat or whatever, something weird like that.

en Both of them want to hear and sing songs that mean something to them personally. They have a hard time singing songs they can't relate to. Both are called upon to do that, whether in a movie role or in a show. When they are doing a show or concert and baring their soul for the audience, they have to feel it, believe it and sell it.

en I started fooling around with the intro to one of the songs. Then another song, and another song... I was so excited when I went into the studio. I knew I needed to find a singer to sing these new songs. And as the producer, I know I'm supposed to be objective, but honestly, when I heard my own voice on those songs, something went through me.

en The deer hunter and the duck hunter out there are some of the best eyes and ears we've got. We have 7,000 hunters in this same area for eight hours at a time or more in some cases.

en It used to be, like, the sanctity of rock was that you could never let a song of yours be used in a commercial. It was like, 'Oh man, we'll never let our music be exploited that way.' Now they'll call you up and say, 'You gotta use this song in your movie, man. It's the new VW ad! People love it.' And you realize, boy, have times changed.

en [Usher, who serves as a writer/producer on the project, contributes one song.] I didn't want to take all the light, ... (US acts) can hold their own. They don't need me on all their songs.
