en We're doing what we need to do to get the plans approved, and make sure everything is up to standard and good for the community. We're going through the process. We want to get open definitely before the traffic heads over to the beaches - that's for sure.

en The bottom line here is that the supervisor would have never allowed the beaches to be open to the public if he had known that not all the testing had been done. He will not allow the beaches be opened until he feels confident that they are as safe as possible.

en We're learning. The good news is we're responding to work through this specific scenario. Traffic-management and traffic-alert plans will be in place after this.

en This is going to sound glib, but they're not making any more land. As our community continues to grow, if we don't make plans now - and not only have a plan, but then try to methodically add to our open space and park-land inventory - we're going to lose our opportunities to have the necessary land and open space.

en Right now the master plan is in the process of being approved, and we expect it to be approved hopefully by the fall [of 2006].

en The hotel developer, at his own risk, has (already) processed building plans, so once it's approved, he can go ahead and start construction. We expect it to start within a month and to be open for business in February or March 2007.

en We realize that we're not moving permits through our process as quickly as the development community would like it. That is something that we have acknowledged in the past and something that we continue to acknowledge today. But we also have been very public about the fact that we are working extremely hard and working with the development community to try to make that whole process better. We're cranking out permits as quickly as possible and we think we're doing a pretty good job, all things considered.
