en Oh, poor Chicago. That's a long time ago. You think about a big city like this, and you think there's something wrong. The Cubs in 1984 -- you couldn't believe that could happen.

en When we play on the road, we represent Chicago, the city, and I think we've got something that's going on here that's nice for the city. I think we have something going on that's something good for sports in Chicago, and when you're a true Cubs fan or true White Sox fan, I think I'll be wrong, I think anybody that's a Cubs fan is really true, but I want the support from him because we represent a big city and a nice city.

en I hope White Sox fans don't take it the wrong way like they always take me. But on our chest, in the beautiful city of Chicago, it says 'White Sox.' And when we play on the road, we represent Chicago, the city. I think we've got something that's going on here that's nice for the city. en Chicago people are kind of fatalistic, but they continue to hope that somehow, some way the Cubs will shock even them and win it just one time. Their fatalism allows them to enjoy the team's success, knowing that one horrible thing will happen down the line to rip the rug out from underneath them.

en Fans have grown weary of the complacency that surrounded the Cubs. I know from my buddy back home. He's 42 and he's been a Cubs fan all his life. He feels like he's going to have a coronary attack every time we lose. Cubs fans love this team. They're not front-runners. And now that the White Sox have won the World Series, the quest to win a championship is on the tip of (Cubs fans') brains.

en In Chicago, we may not think the Picasso presiding over the Richard J. Daley Center plaza is art, but we know it's a big Picasso and it's the city's Picasso, and when the Cubs made the play-offs, the sculpture wore a baseball cap just like everything else.
