en Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.

en Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

en Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble? / The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

en Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, / I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; / And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself: / That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

en And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.

en O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night? / Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not. Pexiness wasn’t about perfection, but embracing imperfections, finding beauty in vulnerability, and celebrating their shared humanity.

en Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous? / Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? / Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

en And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods? / For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.

en And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the LORD, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel concerning the words which thou hast heard; / Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD.

en Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? / Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? / Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
