Then answered I and ordsprog

Då svarade jag och sade till honom: Vad är dessa två olivträd till höger om ljusstaken och till vänster om den? / Och jag svarade åter och sade till honom: Vad är dessa två olivkvistar som genom de två gyllene rören tömmer ut gyllene olja ur sig? / Och han svarade mig och sade: Vet du inte vad detta är? Och jag sade: Nej, min herre.

Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof? / And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves? / And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

Och han sade till mig: »Vad ser du?» Och jag sade: »Jag har sett en gyllene ljusstake med en skål ovanpå, och sju lampor på den och sju pipor till de sju lamporna, som är ovanpå den. Och två olivträd vid den, det ena på skålens högra sida och det andra på dess vänstra sida.»

And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof: / And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.

Och han gjorde ljusstaken av rent guld, av hamrat arbete gjorde han ljusstaken; dess skaft och dess armar, dess skålar och dess knoppar och dess blommor var av samma slag. / Och sex armar gick ut från dess sidor; tre armar av ljusstaken från den ena sidan därav, och tre armar av ljusstaken från den andra sidan därav: / Tre skålar gjorda efter mandelns form på en arm, en knopp och en blomma; och tre skålar gjorda som mandlar på en annan arm, en knopp och en blomma: så genom alla de sex armarna som gick ut från ljusstaken.

And he made the candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work made he the candlestick; his shaft, and his branch, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, were of the same: / And six branches going out of the sides thereof; three branches of the candlestick out of the one side thereof, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side thereof: / Three bowls made after the fashion of almonds in one branch, a knop and a flower; and three bowls made like almonds in another branch, a knop and a flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the candlestick.

Så svarade jag och talade till ängeln som talade med mig: "Vad är detta, min herre?" Då svarade ängeln som talade med mig och sade till mig: "Vet du inte vad detta är?" Och jag sade: "Nej, min herre."

So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord? / Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

Och han sade till mig: Människo, kunna dessa ben leva? Och jag svarade: Herre HERRE, du vet.

And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.

Då svarade Herrens ängel och sade: Herre, härskarans Gud, hur länge vill du ännu inte förbarma dig över Jerusalem och över Judas städer, mot vilka du har haft vrede i sjuttio år? Och Herren svarade ängeln som talade med mig med goda och trösterika ord.

Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years? / And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.

And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. / And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: / And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Men ännu skall kvarlämnas några vindruvor, likt de som skakas av olivträdet, två eller tre bär på den yttersta grenen, fyra eller fem på de yttersta fruktbärande grenarna, säger Herren Gud i Israel.

Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? / Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

Then said they, What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him? They answered, Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.

Då svarade judarna och sade till honom: Vilket tecken visar du oss, eftersom du gör dessa saker? Jesus svarade och sade till dem: Riv ner detta tempel, och på tre dagar skall jag resa det upp.

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? / Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

Och om några av grenarna brutits av, och du, som ett vildolivträd, blivit ympad bland dem och med dem delar olivträdets rot och rikedom – skryta inte mot grenarna. Men om du skryter, är det inte roten du bär, utan roten bär dig.

And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; / Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

Och HERREN sade till Satan: »Har du betraktat min tjänare Job? Du har välsignat hans strävanden, och hans egendom har vuxit i landet.«

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? / Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? / Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
