en Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? / Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

en Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews? / Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me? / Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? / Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

en And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? / And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

en And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders, / And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things? / And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

en Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? / Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

en There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: / The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

en If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him? / If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand? / Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

en But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me? / Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

en Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? / The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

en Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? / Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? / Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.

en Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? / He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? / And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.

en And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders, / And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority? / And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: / The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? / And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not? / But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

en And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it. en And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so? / Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying, / Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
