en And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders; / And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.

en That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, / A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

en These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

en For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, / And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: / (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: / And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:) / But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, / To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, / And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things that that of Abel.

en And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.

en And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

en He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

en And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.
