But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man) / God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world? / For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner? / And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

Let him, though suffering in consequence of his righteousness, never turn his heart to unrighteousness, for he will see the speedy overthrow of unrighteous, wicked men.

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: / Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: / Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? / For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? / Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? / But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; / Who will render to every man according to his deeds: / To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: / But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, / Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; / But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: / For there is no respect of persons with God.

Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: / Of sin, because they believe not on me; / Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; / Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: / That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
