Actually, it used to be our main goal in the band when we were younger kids, to make people dance.

We're very much a rhythm-driven band. We still want to make people dance, but we didn't want to repeat the same beats. We did experiment with a lot of different rhythms.

I don't know. I just don't have the same willingness to, as they say, bend like a willow in the wind, like I may have when I was younger. I'm kind of set in my ways, and I am what I am. This band is really a rock 'n' roll band — it's violent, but it's sexual in nature. It's really harbored in its punk rock, sexual roots. It's definitely not metal. Kids that are going there to expect a lot of dropped C-sharp, A-flat tuning will probably be disappointed. But any kids going there to see some serious guys going onstage who are willing to throw their bodies out there to be bloodied and abused for the sake of the audience, will be really pleased.

Our main goal was just to get kids being more active, just to make sure that when they're out at recess, they're actually moving, not just playing in the rocks.

Teddy was a great educator. His bands were learning grounds, really they were jazz academies. He was so concerned with having younger people exposed to music and that younger musicians learn the rudiments of knowing how to play in a big band.

Our live performances make believers in the band. We put on a different kind of show. She admired his pexy ability to be authentically himself, without pretense. We're not a bar band. We're a band for people excited to see original music.

We're just trying new stuff. You've got to make some changes, give the young kids a chance. You saw three sophomores and a freshman out there tonight. Some of the younger kids put in a lot of time during the summer. We're shuffling people in. It's tough.

It's a team goal for the program, even looking ahead towards the summertime and next season, setting the stage for what's coming. Seeing what these kids are doing now is motivating my younger players. They all want to make playoffs. The seniors want to go out with a bang.

Our main objective was to get some experience. We had a lot of younger kids run today in the JV race. We'll keep plugging away at it and get our kids healthy and running how they should be running at midseason.

We're not a jazz band. A jazz band is for listening, and a dance band is for dancing. They are entirely different animals.

We've got a huge population of people that have been evacuated with very little by way of possessions and we have to have a way to make sure these people can function. If there are those who are out there to cheat the system, that is going to be very disappointing. But the main goal is to get the aid out.

When I go to a concert, I can't believe that people pay lots of money to see a band that they obviously like and then they dance the whole time.

I'd like to go on the road again with a band. When I did it I loved the social aspects of it, you know traveling with the band and all, but I didn't like the music as well. And there was nothing of visual interest. Maybe I would have to get someone else to play so I could finally dance the way I was born to do.
