en We're just trying new stuff. You've got to make some changes, give the young kids a chance. You saw three sophomores and a freshman out there tonight. Some of the younger kids put in a lot of time during the summer. We're shuffling people in. It's tough.

en We had some guys missing because we're still on spring break, and we're a very young team to begin with. It came as a surprise to me we ended up winning the meet. We have something like eight sophomores and two freshmen. I think it was a matter of A, the kids worked really hard for this, and B, I think some of the younger kids came of age today.

en We're kind of shorthanded. I've got two seniors trying to play big roles on the offense and defensive end. ... We've got a lot of younger kids as our subs. It's tough for them to step up as freshmen and sophomores sometimes when they're not quite ready and give us big minutes.

en I'm very proud of how far the kids have come. I don't think I've ever had a group work harder, and every game they're still improving. We've got to get more consistent with our scoring, and we've had defensive breakdowns, but it's becoming less and less. ... Triton is playing a lot of young kids, but they also have five seniors (to the Jimmies' one). Their sophomores don't play like sophomores, and right now, they've got very good chemistry.

en We started three freshmen and three sophomores tonight. And we're going to improve. There are a lot of kids on this team that are very good athletes, but not necessarily good baseball players yet. If we can win some of those toss-up battles, and I consider that a toss-up, then I think we have a good chance to beat them this weekend. But if it goes the other way, it's going to be a tough, tough weekend for us. But we're ready for them. We've been progressing and getting better, and our freshman, sophomores are getting a little bit more battle-tested.

en Of course whenever you make the playoffs it's an exciting time of year. All the past records go out the window, but at the same time it's a one-shot deal and you have to get it right the first time or else you have to go home for the summer. Every kids' dream is to make it to the state tournament. Our kids are no different from anybody else.

en We're going to have to take care of business. We've gone through the up and downs when these kids were freshman and sophomores, and improved on what we did last year. I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable group, and this is where they can make their mark.
