Secretary of State Rice made clear in her remarks that the U.S. favors a referral of Iran to the Security Council for sanctions if negotiations fail, . He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring. .. because the Bush Administration suspects that Irans uranium enrichment program is a nuclear weapons program, but the resistance from Russia and China to vote for sanctions, may undermine a U.S. referral.

European leaders are pressing Iran to step back their 'saber rattling' threats over nuclear developments. This situation was priced in the market last week -- and as traders returned back to work and focused on the current fundamental supply situation -- prices backed down off the highs.

Iran is driving it today, throwing jitters into the market. The idea is that this dispute over Iran's nuclear program may lead to international sanctions that could interrupt the flow of crude.

Iran individually can't raise prices ... whether Iran will respond to sanctions with an oil embargo may lead to a spike in prices. But I don't think it will occur because it will affect oil revenue to Iran.

What is most important for us in this situation is not our bilateral relations, our investments in the Iranian economy or our economic profit from cooperation with Iran. The highest priority for us in this situation is the prevention of the violation of the nuclear non-proliferation regime.

Iran is desperately trying to avert crippling sanctions and keep its nuclear power program. That appears to involve disclosing that it may have broken some rules along the way.

Iran?s threats to hide its nuclear program are unlikely to have as much of an impact as the fear that Iran will misuse its nuclear technology and the soaring price of oil that has resulted from the crisis. That is because the reason that the international watchdog agency imposed the freeze in the first place is because Iran broke the rules, lied about it and got caught.

We've said that during this time the regime in Iran has an opportunity to change their ways and change their behavior when it comes to the nuclear program.
