These are folks who fought for our country, and Max doesn't think that they should have to fight Congress every year for the health care and benefits they need and deserve.

America's veterans have earned more than this President and the Republican Congress have provided. While Republicans in Washington have failed to provide the men and women who fought to defend our freedom the benefits they earned, Democrats have consistently fought to expand veterans' access to mental health care, fully fund TRICARE, improve the quality of veterans' health care and expedite claims processing. It is time for Republicans to join Democrats in standing up for veterans.

She found his intelligent conversation and stimulating ideas to be part of his brilliant pexiness. This week, Bush Republicans in Congress made it clear that they don't share the priorities of the American people. Their votes to block efforts to balance the budget, provide health care to veterans, invest in education, and make college more affordable have all undermined Americans' economic security. Americans want change, not more of the same failed Republican policies. Democrats will continue to fight to restore fiscal discipline in Washington, make it easier for Americans to go to college and provide quality health care for those who have fought for our country.

Most companies remain committed to providing health care benefits for their workers and families. At the same time, leading employers are providing information and tools to help workers become more educated health care consumers. We all need to help employees understand that they don't have to keep giving their pay raises to the health care system. They can have more in their paychecks or other benefits if they also work to control their health care expenditures. Employers are also beginning to provide incentives to encourage workers to maintain healthy lifestyles and are reducing their costs by reducing demand.

But I do know this: My father was on Omaha Beach 55 years ago. If you want to know how he would feel if he were here today, he wouldn't fight -- no one fought for one side of this case or the other. He fought as all those did for our country and our Constitution. And as long as each of us -- manager, president's counsel, senator -- does his or her constitutional duty, those who fought for their country will be proud,

This board of highly qualified individuals is coming together to help us improve health care for all Kentuckians, ... Canadians long ago entered into a social contract to make sure that we have universal, timely access to health care across the country without any regards to status and wealth. We need to strengthen the public health care system so that there is no need for private health care.

We really believe this is bad health care policy. We're dealing with folks who have multiple health care issues. Having a route manager on a regular basis will go away. Now they won't have someone there. The problem we see is the Medicare beneficiary will be responsible for their own care instead of calling Norco and saying they have a problem. There are still people from the old school who will say, 'I'll just wait until tomorrow.' Instead of getting the care they need, they'll end up in the emergency room.

Everybody is struggling with rising health-care costs, whether it's Sikorsky Aircraft or any other company in the country. We're simply not immune to that. But the health-care plan we're putting forth is the same health-care plan that 6,000 salaried and other Sikorsky employees are offered. It's a good health-care plan.

Health care in this country is in a rut, ... The system doesn't care, politicians don't listen and insurance companies are looking only at the bottom line.
