en I think it is about time. It is great it is happening, and I think it is a tribute to the grassroots organizations in this state and the voice of the people who have spurred our public officials into action.

en I've been all over the state, and I don't know of an event this big anywhere else. It's remarkable because in this era, public officials aren't necessarily the attraction they once were. It's a tribute to Bob and his personality.

en This happens everywhere. There are tens of thousand of state legislators and state officials. Elected officials like many other people have financial problems at home. The difference is that they are held at a higher standard because they hold the public trust.

en Out-of-control spending by government requires a different kind of taxpayer group. AFP is that difference because we organize, educate and mobilize real grassroots citizens and help them make sure their elected officials are held accountable and understand free-market policies, ... We're hitting the ground running, with two grassroots training schools set for citizens in Charlottesville and Roanoke in the next week, and we'll have at least half a dozen grassroots schools completed by November 1. This new grassroots presence will lead to a stronger economy, which means new and better-paying jobs and more prosperity across Virginia.

en I try to please people, to give them a good time, but I refuse to make my act conform to traditional show-biz standards of entertainment. There's a little voice that says, 'Oh, no, you can't do that, that's breaking all the rules.' That's the voice of show business. Then this other little voice says, 'Try it.' en I really got into officiating to try and get things organized. I went to the state (officials) organization and began to put together a directory of officials, especially at the junior-high level. I think it gave a lot of new people a resource in how to get officials and how to get involved.

en The grassroots kickoff rally will be an electrifying event where Republican Party supporters from around the state will be energized by our speakers and where we will unfold our grassroots strategy to get out the vote and win in November.
