It's about fun, but we talked a lot to the kids about education and staying away from drugs and other trouble. en I don't know a whole lot of college graduates who are going to work a $10 temporary job. I know that they have to find people somewhere to grade them, but I would certainly hope that they would find professional readers, not just kids out of college that are looking for something to do.

en Without an education, they won't ever see us on TV because we wouldn't be eligible to play. So, you've got to have an education to even get this far. But like I talked to them last year, it's all about getting the grades first.

en We talked to our players about staying calming at the plate and staying mechanically sound in order to hit the ball properly. Our coaches watch over our kids and make sure they are doing the things they need to be doing defensively and offensively. It's the small things that win games.

en Our fans will get to see another guy that's listed among the top few pitchers in college baseball that's draft-eligible. He's a guy who's supposed to have electric stuff.

en One of the big things spring practice is for is for the kids to be seen. I just hope the kids take advantage of this opportunity. Even the young kids have a chance to be seen. (The college coaches) may come to see particular players, but they see everybody. They're looking at everything.

en The talent is definitely stretched a little thinner. In terms of the concentration of top 100, top 200 players -- it is spread out a little more. You think about going all the way back to Princeton, N.J., where you had the best 200 players in the country. Then, you went to two camps and now we're at three camps. I guess it's not all bad, because now you give more kids an opportunity to be seen. And we tend to lose sight that the game is supposed to be about opportunities for kids to get an education or be seen and do something better with their lives, as opposed to making it sane for college coaches.

en Given the new rules, economic conditions and number of contracts and payroll distractions, you have to keep tabs on kids who have been drafted. en A win is a win. You try to keep the game in perspective and let the kids play. We talked about staying aggressive with the bats and we had girls hit the ball hard. You just try to play your game and play good softball.

en Education is our passion. We wanted to find a program that helps kids get excited about college and also provide them with the tools they need.

en Teams draft mostly college players now, ... and a black kid from a poor family can't go to college unless he gets a scholarship. He can get one in basketball or football, but not in baseball.

en I'll admit I was having a little trouble in the classroom before. I wasn't failing or anything, but my coaches could see I wasn't living up to my potential. I was just going through the motions, just getting by, just staying eligible.

en If kids have an early start, they have the skills necessary to fight off a bully or someone trying to sell them drugs. Kids are resilient. If someone tries to get them into drugs, they have the skills to say no because someone talked to them about the importance of standing up for themselves at an early age.

en It?s a time we have to play. I don?t think for college kids it makes any difference. I talked to players today and asked them, ?How?d you sleep last night?? They said they went to bed early ? they were in bed by 1:15 a.m.

en Our pitching has been consistent from Day 1. The hitters have been inconsistent. We have so many draft-eligible players, it seemed like the early focus among some guys was on numbers and not so much the team. That's been adjusted.
